As an Accounting Clerk, you will play a key role in assisting with various accounting tasks, maintaining financial records, and ensuring accuracy in financial transactions. To succeed as an Accounting Clerk, you should be a skilled multi-tasker with excellent time management, computer, and communication skills. Candidates should understand and abide by all accounting procedures and principles and have a commitment to behaving ethically in the workplace.

Accounting Clerk Responsibilities:

  • Performing basic office tasks, including answering phones, responding to emails, processing mail, filing, etc.
  • Maintaining a database, ensuring that records are complete and current.
  • Recording information, processing, and filing forms.
  • Preparing reports as needed
  • Ensuring that cheques are secured, and cheque payment vouchers are prepared.
  • Ensuring all cheques are recorded.
  • Preparing Customer Files
  • Vetting Customer Request forms for Payment by Cheque, Credit are completed accurately before submission to Director for approval.
  • Updating ledgers, researching, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Abiding by all company procedures and accounting principles.
  • Responding appropriately to a vendor, client, and internal requests.
  • Working with other members of the accounting department to compile, analyze, and report financial data.
  • Making journal or ledger entries.
  • Preparing weekly, monthly, and yearly financial reports and budgets including Vat
  • Assisting with tax preparation, audits, and identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Act as a point of contact between internal departments and accounting, serving as a liaison between accounting and external parties, including clients, suppliers, and lenders.
  • Using bookkeeping software (QuickBooks) and entering information into company files or databases, ensuring that all financial records are complete and accurate.
  • Ensuring that company bills are paid and receivables are collected.
  • Implementing and enforcing financial and inventory controls
  • Assisst with Monthly and Bi-weekly Payroll.

Accounting Clerk Requirements:

  • ACCA Level 2-3 Required/Associate Degree in Business or related field
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting procedures and principles.
  • Ethical behavior when dealing with sensitive financial information.
  • High level of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Courteous, professional manner, strong customer service skills.
  • Experience with QuickBooks may be required.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability and Willingness to comply with all company, local, financial regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management, problem-solving, and math skills.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting and legislation
  • Proficiency with computers, especially bookkeeping software, strong typing skills.
  • High level of accountability, accuracy, and efficiency, especially when multitasking.
  • Able to focus and prepare work to high standards.
